My Practice
I am a licensed psychologist in Maryland and the District of Columbia and offer individual, family and couples therapy to adolescents and adults. Known by many of my clients as “Dr. TD,” I also provide workshops and consultation services to nonprofits, faith-based organizations and small businesses on topics such as mental wellness; interculturality; identity and cultural factors (e.g., race, ethnicity, LGBTQIA+, spirituality); and diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging (DEIB).
My practice is based in Bethesda, Maryland, and I am approved to practice telepsychology under the authority of PSYPACT, which includes over 40 participating states.
Clinical Experience
I have provided therapeutic services since 2007 and have held leadership and supervisory roles in a variety of behavioral and mental health settings, including community-based, residential and outpatient services. I work with diverse populations, with clients ranging in age from seven months to 90 years old, hailing from 15 different countries and representing many different religious and cultural practices. My experience also includes collaborating with medical professionals to offer services to young adults with complicated medical illnesses.
Education
I received a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Temple University in 2006 and master’s (2009) and doctor of psychology (2013) degrees in clinical psychology from Chestnut Hill College, an American Psychological Association-accredited program in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
In 2013 I completed a pre-doctoral internship at the Center for Multicultural Training in Psychology at Boston Medical Center/Boston University School of Medicine as well as a two-year post-doctoral fellowship at the George Washington University Professional Psychology Program in 2015. Academic Work
I have published articles and book chapters and present nationally on topics ranging from the intersection of personality and culture, intercultural communication, implicit bias, mental wellness in the workplace and for religious vocations, mindfulness, and healthy technology use.
My work also includes providing training and supervision to future psychologists and mental health professionals. I am a member of the supervising faculty at The George Washington University Professional Psychology Program and a teaching faculty member in the Child and Adolescent Training Program at the Washington School of Psychiatry.
